Inform the Attendance Office if your child is going to be absent at (323) 461-4741 ext. 108 or 124. For the convenience of the students, the Attendance Office opens at 7:00 a.m. to be re-admitted to class after an absence. Students must always have a pre-printed 4x6 LAUSD absence card completed with the date of the absence, the reason and a parent’s signature or a note signed by a parent/guardian stating the child’s name, dates of absence and the reason for the absence. Students should bring the LAUSD card or the parent’s note to the attendance office before 7:20 a.m. on the day of return to school
If a student does not bring the LAUSD card or the parent’s note, an "unverified absence" will be recorded and a detention/campus beautification will be assigned. (Teachers are not required to give any make-up work or tests for unverified absences.)
Being truant from school means being absent from class(es) without permission from parents or school personnel. Students who are found to be truant will be assigned detention and/or Saturday School. Please be aware that continued truancy will lead to further consequences.
A permit to Re-enter Class (PRC) or absence slip will be issued. It must be carried to all missed classes and must be
signed by the appropriate teachers.
A student absent for five (5) or more consecutive days due to illness must have a note from a doctor.
Telephone calls will be made to inform parents of the absence of their child.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to visit the Attendance Office periodically to review their child’s attendance folder.
