Knowing what to do in time of danger could save your life. This is especially true living in Los Angeles where we face the very real threat of experiencing a large magnitude earthquake at any time. Emergency drills are held regularly so that if a real emergency should arise, you will be familiar with what to do.
Fire Drills: The signal for a fire drill is the ringing of short intermittent bells. When the signal is given, all students are expected to immediately proceed with their teachers to their assigned areas. One long bell is the signal to return to class with your teacher.
Drop Drills: The signal for a drop drill is the word "drop" given by the teacher. When the signal is given, all students are to drop to their knees and take cover under their desks. The desk should be held down by the student to provide maximum protection from falling objects.
Lock Down Drills: The signal for a lock down drill is given over the P.A., "Lock your door, this is a lock down." When this signal is given, all students are to stay in the classroom - away from windows and doors. Teachers are to lock their doors. Another announcement will be made over the P.A. to end the lock down.
